This policy explains what information PaintingProGuide collects when you visit paintingproguide.com, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. It applies to this website only.

Who we are

PaintingProGuide is an independent publication about painting supplies, tools and techniques. It is owned and edited by Md Jomiruddin Sobuj. You can reach us at contact@paintingproguide.com.

What we collect

Information you give us

  • Comments. If you leave a comment, we store the name, email address and website you enter, the comment itself, your IP address and your browser user-agent string. This helps us detect spam. Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so that follow-up comments can be recognised and approved automatically.
  • Email. If you email us, we keep that message and your address for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.

Information collected automatically

  • Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are read and how people arrive at them. It records things like pages visited, approximate location, device and browser type, and referring website. Google may set cookies to do this. We do not use it to identify individual readers. Google’s own policy is at policies.google.com/privacy, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
  • Server logs. Our web host records standard access logs, including IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting.

Affiliate links and Amazon

PaintingProGuide is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.

When you click a link to Amazon from this site, Amazon is told which site sent you and places its own cookies in your browser. If you then buy something, Amazon pays us a commission. The price you pay is exactly the same either way. We never see your name, address, payment details or what you bought — Amazon reports only anonymous, aggregated totals to us.

Amazon’s handling of your data is governed by its own privacy notice, not this one: amazon.com/privacy.

Cookies

  • Cookies set by WordPress if you leave a comment, so your details are pre-filled next time. These last up to one year and you can decline them by unticking the box on the comment form.
  • Cookies set by Google Analytics, as described above.
  • Cookies set by Amazon when you follow an affiliate link.

You can delete or block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking them will not stop you reading anything on this site.

Embedded content from other sites

Articles here may embed content such as videos or images hosted elsewhere. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited that other website, which may collect data about you, use cookies, and track your interaction with it.

Who we share your data with

We do not sell your data and we do not share it with anyone for marketing. Data reaches third parties only through the services named above — Google Analytics, Amazon, and our web host — each acting under its own policy. Comment content may be checked by an automated spam-detection service.

Your rights

If you have left a comment or emailed us, you can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to erase it. Write to contact@paintingproguide.com. This does not cover data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes. Readers in the EU, UK and California have these rights under the GDPR, UK GDPR and CCPA respectively.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will appear on this page with a new date at the top.
